Carmen became an accredited T’ai Chi Chih teacher in 1980 and Seijaku (advanced TCC) in 1987. TCC Originator Justin Stone certified her for both.
Carmen has lectured and taught T’ai Chi Chih classes (in English and Spanish) and workshops in many U.S. states and internationally. Over the years, she has taught TCC at IBM, Intel, Southwestern General Corporation of Colorado, Gallup-McKinley Schools Substance Abuse Conference, City of Albuquerque, Grand Teton Retreat of Wyoming, Digital, International New Thought Alliance, The Senior World Games of Utah and the University of New Mexico.
Carmen also produced and hosted a 13-part PBS TV program on TCC in 1994, which features a series of interviews with Justin Stone. She has her own instructional TCC DVD.
After graduating from the University of New Mexico with a BA (1967) and MA (1976) in Education, she taught in the New Mexico public schools for more than 17 years.
While working for the Institute For The Emerging Self, an audio-visual biographical tape library and education center, she was the coordinator of the Educational Department. She has served on the Board of the Grand Teton Retreat, United Way’s Project Blueprint Advisory Board and Community Planning and Resource Distribution Committee. She was a Founding Board Member of the T’ai Chi Chih Association in New Mexico.
