T’ai Chi Chih and Seijaku have been the crowning joy of my life and work. I first studied T’ai Chi Chih in 1995, while pursuing holistic bodywork studies, becoming a Reiki Master, and a practitioner of Integrated Energy Therapy. I was accredited to teach T’ai Chi Chih in 1997, and was accredited to teach Seijaku by Originator Justin Stone a few months later. In the following years, I also studied and subsequently practiced Thai Yoga bodywork. I opened a small local health and wellness center in Bradley Beach, NJ in 1997, celebrating 25 years there on February 15, 2022.
Over the course of some 15 years, I have hosted many trainings and events in both TCC and Seijaku, and was named an International Teacher Trainer in 2012. I enjoyed my studies and personal experiences with the Originator Justin Stone through 2010, having attended three of his “Turiya” Meditation Retreats in 1999, 2000, and 2001 in Albuquerque, NM. These experiences with Justin Stone were both inspiring and life-changing for me.
My earlier life’s work and studies include having acquired a NJ teaching degree in Music in 1974, and a seminary Master of Divinity degree in 1986. I taught vocal/choral music in public schools for several years, taught piano for 25 years, directed school stage musicals, church choirs, and a senior community chorus, and worked in church ministry over a period of some 30+ years.
At the same time that I was discovering the joys and benefits of various holistic practices and healing modalities, I also pursued training in group dynamics and psychodrama, as well as having studied group dynamics with the late Dr. Peter Hendrickson of NYC for working with the LGBTQ community since 1995.
By 2005, the major part of my career became teaching T’ai Chi Chih and Seijaku as classes grew in size and number, and I began preparing serious students for teacher accreditation. After I was appointed a TCC Teacher Trainer, nearly all my time was absorbed in teaching and training in TCC and Seijaku. (I do continue some volunteer work for a gay men’s group, and directed a Senior Center choral group from 2011 until the world pandemic prohibited rehearsals).
I find my students and constituent teachers to be a true joy to work with, and the enrichment that I receive in body and mind as well as the inspiration of spirit have been invaluable and all-pervading. It has been a “lifesaver” for my health, and so I am deeply grateful for this practice. I celebrate 25 years as an accredited T’ai Chi Chih teacher on July 12, 2022, as well as 10 years as an appointed Teacher Trainer in that same month. I am very grateful. As has been said by so many others, “T’ai Chi Chih has changed my life!”.
