I was a member of the first Tai Chi Chih group class that Justin conducted in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Prior to attending Justin’s class (with Kim Grant and Caroline Guilott) I had training in the long form of Tai Chi and the martial art Aikido.
What drew me to Tai Chi Chih was the gentleness of the movements, that there were no bruises in doing the form and there were only 19 moves and one pose. And, along with these positives, I felt the Chi so much stronger than my previous martial art forms.
I served in the U.S. Navy as a communication specialist on the USS Midway CVA-41 during the Vietnam war. Once home I went to college and earned a PH.D in the field of Education. I was a Consultant to the Office of Child Development in San Francisco and provided training to Head Start programs throughout the United States.
My wife Daryll (an English citizen) and I moved to the U.K. three years ago and we now live in the beautiful green and peaceful countryside just outside of Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire. We have six children and eight grandchildren and our biggest baby right now is our beloved 9 year old German Shepherd.
Moving to the U.K. (where there is a growing community of teachers) is the best move we have ever made… other than asking my lovely wife to be my eternal wife and partner.
