When I was in my early thirties, a dancer I admired suggested I try T’ai Chi Chih and I fell in love with the gentle rhythmic movements instantly! My Teacher insisted I take the Teacher’s Training course lead by the originator of the form, Justin Stone, and while rehearsing my graduation presentation, a woman asked “isn’t that T’ai Chi’? That one question changed the course of my life.
Ironically, just hours before receiving my TCC Accreditation diploma, I agreed to start teaching an evening class at my apartment complex. The funny thing was I had no intention of teaching, I just wanted to learn all I could about the nuances hidden within the movements. Fortunately this is a life long practice that improves with time, and I feel very grateful and blessed to still be learning every day.
Today people want to lead happier and healthier lives, and in the time we have left on this earth, we want to know how to generate the greatest quality of life.
Students notice they feel less stressed and more calm, their balance quickly improves and they sleep better. Some students let go of excess weight, lower blood pressure and require less medication, and others heal faster than their doctor expected after surgery.
People usually find my classes through the local Senior Center, a doctor’s referral or by a friend’s recommendation.
I have decided to try something new and will begin offering online classes via Zoom this summer. Stay tuned and watch this space.
