Over the years I’d studied meditation, healing, and various forms of movement – from yoga and contemporary dance to Qi Gong and T’ai Chi. Each was enjoyable and beneficial in its own way, but when I came upon T’ai Chi Chih, Joy Thru Movement, in 2002 I felt like I had finally landed! Here was a form of movement that included all the elements and qualities of the others – combined. And it was so easy and enjoyable to learn and to do!
After being certified to teach T’ai Chi Chih in 2003 I taught at a variety of venues. For the past 15 years I’ve primarily taught T’ai Chi Chih at the Adult and Community Education Program of the Sarasota Schools – mostly Beginner classes in an 8-week format, and occasionally an Intermediate or a Seijaku class.
During the same period I’ve taught an ongoing drop-in class at a large retirement community.
I lead an ongoing weekly practice at a local park, mostly for former students, but open to all. (Email for times and location.)
And I occasionally lead an open practice at the beach on Monday nights. (Email for time and address.)
Currently I’m not teaching because of Covid-19, but I’m planning to set up an online method in the near future.
I absolutely love teaching T’ai Chi Chih because it’s so rewarding to see and hear the benefits experienced by students. In almost every class there’s some really dramatic benefit received by at least one student (such as a long-standing painful condition that has not responded to treatments or medicines – gone!) And to a person, students find T’ai Chi Chih to be an enjoyable practice with positive effects. I’ve lost count of how many have told me, “Tai Chi Chih has changed my life!”
