T’ai Chi Chih Teacher Training Course Information

Requirements: Please visit the guidelines and accreditation sections of taichichih.org. Great care has been taken to specifically outline the expectations of teacher candidates. Candidates and their teachers must familiarize themselves with this information.

Signature Referral by Two Accredited TCC Instructors Is Required: When two instructors with whom you are preparing for accreditation are confident you are ready to attend an accreditation course, print out the Teacher Candidate Referral Form and ask them to sign your referral form. Send the original signed form to the course trainer and a copy to the course host.

The signature referral form need not be sent with the registration form; it can be sent in later. However, your registration/reservation in the course is not confirmed until the course host receives your signed referral form.

Accreditation is not guaranteed by the receipt of the referral form or by your course attendance. Candidates are kept apprised of their evaluation throughout accreditation week. The accreditation certificate is awarded at the end of the course at the sole discretion of the course trainer.

Scholarships: Scholarships, granted on financial need basis, are available up to a maximum of $275 per teacher candidate and for teachers auditing all 5 full days of a teacher training course. *The Scholarship Application Form must be returned with the Event Registration Form at least 30 days prior to the course.

Accreditation week is limited to a maximum of 15 candidates. If you plan to attend, submit your registration form and deposit as early as possible. These forms are due no later than at least 30 days prior to the accreditation course dates. Should you later learn you will not be receiving two accredited TCC instructor signatures, as one or both teachers feel you are not yet ready, your registration will be void and your deposit will be refunded.

Length of Course: This course begins on Friday at 7:00pm and ends Thursday at noon. You must be able to attend all sessions (morning, afternoon and evening) in order to be accredited. Some free time is usually given after each meal before meeting. Check-in is on Friday beginning at 3:30pm. Friday dinner is on your own. The housing fee includes your private room and bathroom Friday through Wednesday nights, linens and towels, all meals (Saturday breakfast thru Thursday breakfast), and use of the facility.

Facility: You will be staying at the Franciscan Spiritual Center, which is part of Our Lady of Angels Convent in Aston, Pennsylvania.

Parking is directly across the street from the building. All activities are in one building.

Meals: Usually served at 8:30am, Noon and 5:15pm. If you have necessary food restrictions, please inform the registrar/host in advance so that the retreat house kitchen staff can make an effort to accommodate your needs. In some cases it may be necessary for individuals to bring their own food to supplement their dietary needs as the center may not be able to provide certain foods.
