I took my first T’ai Chi Chih class in 2009, and for two years attended weekly practices led by my instructor. After two years, due to my instructor’s health issues, I assisted her in leading the practices. In 2014 I was accredited to teach T’ai Chi Chih and have taught a beginning class through the local Parks Department, and currently through the Bainbridge Island Senior Center. I also continue to lead the weekly practice at the Bainbridge Island Senior Center.
I came to T’ai Chi Chih with a background in martial arts. I practiced Karate-do for eight years, which is a very traditional martial arts form. I believe many of the mental aspects of martial arts carry over to practicing T’ai Chi Chih, and have helped me in my practice. I was fortunate that T’ai Chi Chih found me as I am much more in line with the teachings of T’ai Chi Chih.
As instructors, our over-riding goal is to pass on the knowledge that Justin Stone gave to all of us. We share the meditative aspects, encourage personal growth, and share the Chi.
My goal is to get accredited in Seijaku and use this knowledge to add to my teaching skills.
