I have been practicing T’ai Chi Chih since 1995. When I began, classes in Sitka were taught by Russ Brown who came to town for a week (with classes times per week) and and then he was gone for maybe two months, the back again. I was accredited in June 1997 and Seijaku accredited in November 1997 in Albuquerque, N.M.
In July 1997 I began T’ai Chih Chih Practice by the Sea, the first Saturday of every month, behind the Sitka Public Library. This was not a class, per se, as anyone could join — and they did! Although it stopped in Fall 2019, there are plans are to revive it.
Teaching always has been a joy. I taught through different venues, i.e. UAS, Hames PE Center, Pioneer Home Chapel, SEARHC Transitional Care and Employee Assistance Program. When I retired from working at SEARHC, I stopped teaching there. I have done several demonstrations for groups since then.
Presently I am working on a Beginner’s Zoom class and hope to start it in August. Please contact me if you are interested.
