Greetings. Thanks for checking out the teacher profiles.
Like many others, I found TCC by accident. I was in a Complementary Therapies Certificate Program with the final class being Tai Chi Chih. It was an immediate relationship. The teacher invited me to take some private lessons after the class had ended. I still remember doing the practice on her deck and watching the deer coming out of the woods to join us.
I was certified in Albuquerque in November of 2002 and had the privilege of meeting Justin Stone. At the time, I was working with a mental health clinic , so I began offering classes to some of the clients. I have continued to do this and hope to resume once the clinic is reopened.
In July of 2015, I had the last of four hip surgeries and can no longer walk independently. Not to be deterred, I spent the recovery period in front of a full length mirror, teaching myself a seated version of TCC. I now share teaching duties with another teacher doing the standing version.
I retired in 2013 and moved to a senior apartment. I have offered the seated version to some of my neighbors. I also have learned to play golf in an adaptive cart and have begun a regular centering prayer practice. TCC has supported me in both of these ventures. The practice never stops being new and renewing.
Zoom Classes
I also have been offering classes at three churches, in person and now on Zoom. Some of the students have formed lasting friendships and have shared the ups and downs of life with one another.
