Lauren became an accredited T’ai Chi Chih teacher in November 2018. She first discovered T’ai Chi Chih in Montgomery, Texas, in 2016 and since then has incorporated T’ai Chi Chih into her daily life. After moving to Sault Ste. Marie in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan she realized she was missing a T’ai Chi Chih community. So, she set about to become an accredited teacher so she could form her own community with whom she could share this relaxing moving meditation.

She taught at the Northern Life Yoga Studio after her accreditation in Albuquerque, New Mexico and adapted to a virtual format during the pandemic. She also donated her time weekly to lead a group of her neighbors in T’ai Chi Chih where the ages ranged from 12 to 95-years young. It is in this environment she gained experience with leading seated T’ai Chi Chih as well.

As a certified Montessori (American Montessori Association) Kindergarten teacher and a gold medal figure skating coach for over two decades, she has a natural ability for teaching and connecting with people (adults and children). As the Academic Summer Camp Director at the Lake Superior State University, she incorporated this moving mindfulness to help students with academic stress, a pause in their day and hopefully the skills for future times. She especially loved seeing the students ignite their chi – like they do with the loud and boisterous Six Healing Sounds!

In 2021, Lauren and her husband moved back to Columbus, Ohio to be closer with her daughters and grandson. Besides coaching ice skating, she will be leading practices at retirement homes the Columbus area.
