T’ai Chi Chih found me in 2010 in a class at my church, where I was looking for a spiritual practice. Little did I know at the time that I would immediately begin healing myself from a recent and serious bout with cancer. The benefits were subtle, but slow and steady, until I realized that my entire being was becoming whole, and I was learning more about myself along the way. I couldn’t wait to retire from my full-time and stressful job so that I could become a certified teacher and share this precious gift from Justin Stone. I achieved my goal in 2017, and immediately began teaching.
My students sign up for various reasons, usually to improve their balance or lower their blood pressure, but like me, they learn that T’ai Chi Chih greatly benefits body, mind and spirit.
I volunteer through Village without Walls, an organization that helps seniors “age in place,” in their homes, as long as possible with help from various kinds of volunteers.
Having lived in the same area for over fifty years, I also draw on my wide circle of friends and acquaintances to join my classes. They often bring interested friends and I have enjoyed meeting many new people in the close camaraderie that T’ai Chi Chih inspires.
My background in both classroom teaching and teaching aerobic dance for a few years has given me good experience in working with all types of bodies and learning styles.
