Chi

T’ai Chi Chih is a mindfulness-moving meditation practice that’s easy to learn. The series of 19 movements and one pose helps circulate the Vital Energy, the Chi. Practitioners experience peace, improved health, and many more benefits. Our free monthly e-newsletter offers inspiration between issues of the TCC quarterly journal, The Vital Force, in which teachers and students tell stories about ways they’ve benefited from the practice.

The individual is actually the product of the Yin Chi and Yang Chi. – Justin F. Stone, TCC Originator

From the recent issue of The Vital Force:

Connecting: “The beautiful thing about TCC is that it’s a simple form. That enables a practitioner to really have a connection with the Chi, which is the ultimate teacher. Any structure, any form is just the facilitator for us to have that inner relationship with the Chi, the divine, the supreme ultimate. After all these years, that’s what I most appreciate about the practice.” TS, Various locations

Unraveling: “‘What do you mean we should be living in the feet and the belly?’ I mentally shouted at our TCC instructor. Nevertheless, I tried it, and it has changed my life and outlook, and experience of myself and all else…. Recently while doing the weight shift of Rocking Motion, I suddenly felt a further unraveling, which revealed my vasanas, or conditioning/ habit energies, and the unconscious life strategies and ‘protective coloration’ that sprang from them. This involuntary unraveling of the vasanas seemed to free me from them…. I feel deep compassion as my criticisms and judgments fall away when interacting with others — realizing that I am they and they are but aspects of myself.” — CS, Johnstown, CO

Appreciating: “I started TCC  in 2020, so I didn’t have the privilege of meeting or training with Justin Stone directly. What I’ve learned from everyone who had that privilege is truly amazing. That’s where my wishful thinking comes in: I wished for the opportunity to learn from him. Then I remembered that I’m learning through his teachers. His Life Force flows through everyone. Every time I do TCC, I feel his presence — especially when it comes from a teacher who trained with him.” — KJ, Vergas, MN

Unchanging: What is this Chi that seems to be the most important and best kept secret of life? Nobody has described it better than the Chinese sage Lao-Tzu, who 2500 years ago said, ‘There is a thing confusedly formed, worn before heaven and earth. Silent and void it stands alone and does not change. Goes round and round and does not weary. It is capable of being the mother of the world. I know not its name, so I call it “the way.” Justin F.
