Wisdom

T’ai Chi Chih is a mindfulness-moving meditation practice that’s easy to learn. The series of 19 movements and one pose helps circulate the Vital Energy, the Chi. Practitioners experience peace, improved health, and many more benefits. Our free monthly e-newsletter offers inspiration between issues of the TCC quarterly journal, The Vital Force, in which teachers and students tell stories about ways they’ve benefited from the practice.

“These days one hears a lot about enlightenment….” – Justin F. Stone, TCC Originator

From the August issue of The Vital Force:

Transitions: “Change brings us life transitions and some of these are difficult. Moving out of pandemic isolation … losing a loved one…. Life’s footing has shifted, and we feel off-balance. Yet permanence is an illusion. All aspects of life have a yin-yang nature that flows from sunny side to shadow side and back. Real permanence comes from a stable constancy within, a perspective of balance that recognizes and moves through the continual impermanence of life. TCC teaches this: the firmest footing rests within.” – RD, Tulsa, OK

Destinations: “Although it was not my original intent to teach TCC, here I am many years later, teaching, feeling like a beginner, sometimes discouraged but often encouraged, learning new tricks, making new friends. Apparently, none of this is an accident. A favorite Justin Stone quote: ‘We cannot reach a destination traveling in the wrong direction.’ It’s an honor to be a part of this dedicated group, expanding out into the world, feeling the bond of the Chi, and going places we’ve never been before.” – TGP, Olmos Park, TX

Connections: “I’ve been doing TCC on and off for the last 30 years. Now, thanks to Zoom and Covid-19, I’ve fulfilled a longtime wish to start TCC teacher training here in Amsterdam. No one teaches TCC here, so I emailed every European teacher on the website. Fortunately, I found a teacher in Great Britain.” (ML, The Netherlands) / “Discovering TCC has been a profound joy and helped me meditate with less chattering distraction. Feeling immediately in tune from the first lesson, I discovered Joy Through Movement.” (VP, UK) / “I have previous experience with T’ai Chi Ch’uan, Qi Gong and Wing Chun Kung Fu, but upon meeting (a TCC teacher), I knew this gentle and peaceful practice was my next step. A particular interest is a compassion in TCC practice.” (AL, Romania).” –  Students of LN & TW, UK

Realizations: “Generally, I believe, it is thought that enlightenment is a super-intellectual state where the brain has great knowledge and knows many answers (or concepts). Nothing could be farther from the truth; it has nothing to do with IQ rating or knowledge assimilated. When the individual energy (Chi) merges with the Universal Energy (Chi), something acts through one, and that something is infallible. This is Prajna, the Inherent Wisdom.” –  Justin F. Stone
