Hi, I’m Caroline Guilott, accredited in T’ai Chi Chih since June 1999. I frequently studied with TCC originator, Justin Stone, through the latter part of his life. For me, T’ai Chi Chih is simply a way of life.

I derive joy seeing my students achieve breakthroughs and grow their inner sensibilities.

What motivates me as a teacher ? When I see in my student’s eyes that they “get it”! When the energy flows, they glow and it is priceless! How they get there is not through a thinking process; so students can let go of what they think TCC should be.

Why did I start practicing? It was like I was led to an open house for TCC. I signed up for class and never stopped, repeating many beginners’ classes. It was a question of survival but I was not aware of it then. I am in a much stronger physical condition now, with less pain in the body, feet, sciatica, kidneys and colon. I had no idea I was in such a shape. I do not ache any longer! (If I do, it is because of excess.)

My students are from the general population but I have worked with people with various injuries, Parkinsons, the elderly. I love helping them find their t’an t’ien while doing TCC seated in their chairs. I also love how these students move without “hang ups.”

My favorite movement is … all of them now … but it used not to be that way. I really love “the taffies” just to see if I will catch that fleeting moment of the two hands crossing. Am I missing it?  Can I be aware every time?

I love that Justin introduced us to the way to feel energy in our own bodies. It is very definite at first when the hands are very much in polarity, to be led to the essence of that instant. It is quite lovely. It goes to the essence of the practice, to be deliberate in finding what makes us alive: the joy of T’ai Chi Chih through the movement. Solid in our feet, we flow with the way of the energy. I thank Justin Stone daily for trusting us with such a gift.
