A Never-Ending Practice?
Piece by piece the puzzle of this TCC journey slowly comes together. Basic movements are learned quickly, and we practice until we believe they are somewhat mastered. But the truth is we have simply gotten our toes wet. The journey has just begun, but perhaps we have discovered a benefit by now. Could we be feeling healthier? Could we be feeling the buzzing of Vital Force energy? Has a different world outlook surfaced? Has a creative spark been ignited? Any these may awaken a curiosity of the possibilities ahead.
Next comes the decision to dive deeply into this practice. Then the principles come. We hear and learn them early on, but soon come to realize the difference between knowing and feeling them. It’s the growing importance of what I call, “The increasingly intimate relationship we develop with our feet.” It emphasizes the total weight shift and the yinning and yanging. As pieces begin to fit, the practice improves. It starts flowing better and with less effort.
In retrospect earlier struggles magically disappeared, but it is not magic. It is the commitment to practice along with outstanding instruction. New challenges surface daily as movements are fine tuned. I used to be flustered when corrected. I now have learned to listen, to be thankful for the help. The newest challenge is that I sometimes get lost in the movement and lose count. It feels like brief instances of TCC doing itself or possibly not being grounded. Nonetheless, the effort of no effort comes to light, which is exciting.
Bottom line, along with the amazing people who constitute this community, the curiosity and desire to experience the next magical moments promise a lifetime of practice. Perfection is not the goal; it is non-existent. Practice, practice, practice. With much gratitude, I give thanks.
