A Practice Poem for TCC

By: Lisa Stroyan

Fort Collins, Colorado

This poem bubbled up inspired by Lorraine Lepine’s practice after she read, “Rest in the Essence.” It gelled with a new teacher asking about Ann Rutherford’s conference presentation that referenced kelp. It points to experiences you might notice while moving.

Rest in the Effortless effort

One pointed mind on

1000 points of awareness

Pervading the Universe,

Who we are

Rest in the unseen essence.

You are the imperturbable

Basin of water

Riding on the energy sea;

Soft arms responding

Open hands leaves blossoming

Thumbs relaxing flat

(Not a contradiction)

Fingers uncurling with trust

Unfurling into sails,

(Try it!)

Riding the heavy air and

Resting on the energy sea

Partnered with the Chi

Anchored like kelp

Substance appears like current

Going inward isn’t small at all!

What a wondrous place, this

One pointed mind with

Infinite points of awareness.
