Children & TCC
In about 1976, I happened to spend some time in Sedona, Arizona. While there I received lessons in T’ai Chi Chih (TCC) from a woman who had learned the art from Justin Stone. Since then, I have practiced, sometimes more, sometimes less. I have seen some dramatic results in people with whom I shared the practice. But in particular, while working for many years in psychiatric hospitals with children, I was wonderfully pleased with the results of children learning and practicing TCC in a group. Children seem more open to catching onto the movements than many adults. After completing a set of TCC, it was obvious that the children who were depressed were significantly emotionally uplifted. And the children who were nervous and anxious were much calmer and more relaxed. The practice seemed to bring a balance to whatever was needed; it was always a wonderful experience for all of us.
