How TCC has Changed Me
I had always wanted to take T’ai Chi. I received a brochure from Clarkstown Community Learning Center and saw Oreann class for T’ai Chi Chih (TCC). I thought it was the formal title for T’ai Chi. I remember how excited I was to finally start, and I walked into the class and met Oreann who was very welcoming. She explained that this was not T’ai Chi but TCC and she explained their differences. I was a bit disappointed but felt that I was led here for a reason. And I was.
TCC makes me feel as if I’m floating in the Caribbean. I am supported by warm waves gently rocking my body, a cool breeze, and the sun on my face. I am one with the elements, relaxed, happy, and at peace. When I practice TCC I am surrounded by air instead of water. My favorite place to practice is outside. The smooth TCC movements take me to a safe, free state. There I am one with the universe. Whatever led me to Oreann’s class makes me feel like I am home, and I’m very grateful.
Oreann’s love and enthusiasm for TCC is contagious; she wants to share TCC with the world. The classroom environment is calm with relaxing music and Oreann’s soothing voice. Students (including myself) open up to her because, like TCC, she heals.
I finally took T’ai Chi but I like TCC better. If I had started with T’ai Chi first, I might not have found home.
