Joyous & Rich Reflections

Our 50th T’ai Chi Chih (TCC) teacher conference won a gold medal. (No coincidence that the Olympics was in full swing.) Justin, I know, was so proud of this celebration of his TCC gift to the world. His vision of TCC as a profound practice for supporting a rich, meaningful, and joyful life was manifested.

This conference offered us a journey into the deeper spiritual awareness that TCC offers. I always love working on the form, ways to improve movements, teaching tips, and gaining a greater awareness of the six principles of movement.

This conference embodied a deeper awareness of how the Chi circulates and moves in and around me. Starting with April Leffler, Unity and Rocking Motion, and “walking the dog” (and the wonderful humor of this) and then the “yes” for the perfect synchronization of the tan t’ien with the arms and upper and lower body flowing together effortlessly. The day after returning home, I shared this with a student who loves to walk her dog, and her face lit up.

The small group sharing, with the provocative questions, helped us talk about our deep connections and experiences within our own practices and teaching. The sessions were a wonderful way to get to know and connect with other teachers.

When the conference was over, I left with a joyous and rich sense of grounding and peace. When I returned home, my husband was playing The Lark Ascending, by Ralph Vaughan Williams. There are no accidents.
