TCC Teacher Circle on Facebook

Editor’s Note: Are you a teacher? This private Facebook group is great resource open to all teachers for exchanging ideas in relative real time. To gain access, send a message to the page administrators with date and place that you received your TCC accreditation. If you are thinking about becoming a teacher, please know that a super supportive community awaits. Here is a recent partial exchange of information and experience between teachers.

Jan Walker: What is the benefit of polarity in TCC? I understand there is polarity when our palms are facing each other. Why is polarity important? Shifting the weight properly helps to circulate the Chi and coming to rest helps to balance the Chi. What about polarity? I know it’s a confirmatory sign of the Chi flowing. But why else is it important? TY.

Chris McLain: For me it helps to calm and balance my thoughts, and even out the body. Then the bliss of a quiet mind and rush of energy.

Jessica Lewis: I’ve read somewhere that polarity is simply one of the governing principles of the universe, so becoming increasingly aware of it at various moments during TCC is just one more wonderful and valuable way we learn more about the practice of life through the practice of TCC

Hannah Hedrick: @Jessica, you would be very attracted to the simple principles, not the extensive theory, of Randolph Stone’s polarity therapy. There is a wonderful book called “Your Healing Hands” that may no longer be in print but when I get my hands on it I will copy a few things for you.

Walker West: @Jessica, yin and yang nature of separation and together as one.

Hannah Hedrick: I brought materials with me here to the mainland to write an article about polarity. I have had pretty extensive training in polarity therapy, developed by Randall Stone. Linda Braga wrote a wonderful booklet on all of the TCC principles, and her entry on polarity therapy is a wonderful summary of Randolph Stone and the polarity therapy principles.

Several articles have been written about the effect that my polarity therapy session had on them including in Chicago and Argentina. I have done a little polarity therapy on many of my fellow TCC teachers at conferences. Hoping I will have time to write something. In the meantime, do a little research on polarity therapy and Randolph Stone.

Barbara Kristoff: When I feel polarity in the movements, and when I come to rest, I experience an expansive soft flow. Yet, that said, I also have that expansive feeling with the movements that do not have polarity. As I ponder your question (thank you), I am thinking about my practice. I don’t feel “fulfilled” if I don’t include both circularity and polarity movements. (The other principles are in all the movements.) I am most intrigued with Hannah’s comments. And thank you Jessica.
