The Place Beneath
By: Eileen Hastings
Meditation on a Plane
IN THIS QUIET PLACE, COCOONED,
THE CONVERSATION JUST ABOVE
DISCONNECTED FROM ME, BUT
COMFORTABLE, CADENCING SOUND
WORDS FLOATING AT RANDOM
PATCHES OF PULSING
DANCING AND DARTING
STRETCHING AND SHRINKING
QUILTING AROUND ME
STITCHED WITH DIRECTION
NOT AIMED AT ME
IN THIS SPACE BENEATH SOUND.
