The Sacred Energy of TCC

As we contemplate deeply who and what we really are, we come to realize we are divine, spiritual beings living in a body. We are not the body first, for without animation and life force (prana) we would cease to be alive. We were charged by Justin Stone to explore and to dive deep within ourselves to discover these truths. As Justin said, “Wisdom and energy come from the same source. We live in a vast continuum of surging vibration, encompassing both Wisdom and Energy. We do not have to look outside ourselves to find both. Enlightenment is merely uncovering our own treasure.”

So, as we do the T’ai Chi Chih (TCC) movements what are we moving? What is this “heavy air” that surrounds us. It is the toric field which is a donut-like energy field that animates our life and connects us one to another. Life force (prana) comes in on the breath down through the central channel of the body — into the earth and then up and around again and again. It is a surging vibration. We know within our central core we have energy vortexes called chakras each vibrating at a different frequency, with a different color and a different sound. These energy centers help to make us uniquely ourselves. We also know that the heart center has its own toric field and that the heart has 100,000 more electrical impulses than the brain and 5,000 times more magnetic resonance. We are heart-based beings. Living from the heart is our natural state of being. All spiritual traditions encourage us to connect with the heart — to feel and express gratitude, compassion, and love.

As we work with TCC movements, we are activating the yin and yang Chi and swirling it within our subtle energy bodies. In addition to the toric field, chakras, and central channel (called the shushumna), we also have layers of subtle bodies call koshas. These energy bodies start with the densest (the physical body) and continue until they include the most subtle body (the bliss body). The kosha next to the bliss body is the wisdom body, which gives us the ability to listen to our innate knowing, our intuition, and to be present with our connection to Source.

When parts of our energetic body are out of balance, perhaps due to a physical or emotional trauma — or anxiety, depression, anger, or sadness — we feel our subtle bodies become discordant. We feel out of sorts, scrambled, often unable to think clearly. All this upset causes us to be diseased and can eventually lead to illness or perpetual unhappiness. TCC through its calm, soft, continuous movements — circles within circles — acts upon these sacred energetic bodies and can bring them back into balance. This creates joy, without measure, joy through movement. The more we practice TCC the deeper this inner knowing becomes. We discover our sacred energy and know with certainty that energy and wisdom are indeed the same and that many treasures can be uncovered and found within ourselves.
