Allowing Chi To Move Me
In 1999, I was searching for a meditation group because I’d heard we could heal ourselves through meditation. I was severely impacted by restless leg syndrome and could rarely relax enough to get a good night’s sleep. The trouble with meditation was I could not sit still. I then heard about T’ai Chi Chih, a moving meditation. Now this I could do. I was so excited that I showed up for class a week early. So began my journey into a world I could not have imagined at that time.
I took the beginner’s course three times because I so enjoyed the group energy. I practiced everyday and found myself asking to be guided by this energy that flowed so intrinsically through me. My teacher suggested I consider teaching. Although I had no interest in teaching, I signed up for the accreditation course. It was far more difficult that I presumed, but provided me with an openness of spirit I was unaware I was capable of. This was a gift; a connection and a link to the path I would continue to follow.
Each day I would practice. When the flutter came to my fingers, I giggled. This was a visual reminder of the flow propelling me into a new life. Within a few years I found myself guided out of the corporate world and spending more time seeking Spirit in the context of my daily life and how I interact with others. I learned to question repeated patterns that no longer served me. I would pose the question, do my practice and get answers. This was amazing to me. Now I know the easy flow of Chi created by my regular practice was allowing my higher self the space to bring answers to my human mind and providing greater clarity.
What I was searching for when I signed up for this class for TCC was relief from a physical difficulty. I achieved total relief from the restless leg syndrome after about six months and even released the need for medication to assist with sleep. But I found so much more. Of course, I did go on to teach and I love teaching. It brings great joy. But, now I am also teaching others to connect to their higher selves. I am so grateful to TCC for all that it has brought to my life and all the people I have met over the past 10 years because the Chi moves through me in an ever greater way with each practice. I practice in the Cleveland area, and I look forward to meeting more teachers from our community in July 2011 when our conference convenes on the shores of Lake Erie.
