Poetry in Motion

By: Lois Vermilya

I rock

With my wings circling

In nourishment

Round and around

Attuned to the beating of my heart

Like a big bass drum.

I ascend to the mountaintop

As a daughter through the valley

Carrying my ball of inner light

As a ball of memory and love.

The push pull that I know

Gathers energy

Freely stretched like taffy

In variations

Anchored, circling, and in perpetual motion.

I lift my spirit like a pulley

Into light at the top of my head,

Light at my temple.

A joyous breath

Passing as clouds of healing

Sounds deep within me.

Restorative,

Strong, and

Conscious of all.

I am steadfast as a tree.
