“It is the absence of any pressure, moving slow motion in a dream, that allows softness to prevail.” I feel that the order of the universe steadily proceeds along without being concerned or influenced by the chaos around it. This Vital Force or Chi feels no pressure to be other than what it is. This is what allows softness to prevail and for us to connect with this essence when we practice T’ai Chi Chih slowly and mindfully without tension as though in a dream.

Working The Pulley: particularly lends itself to this concept as it feels to me like a perfectly functioning machine that keeps moving with or without us. When we become part of this movement we are also grounded and tuned into this incredible energy.

General Thoughts: When I spend a week or two by the ocean, the first place I head is the beach to do TCC practice, usually in the early mornings or late afternoons. I like to face the water allowing the cool ripples of waves to wash gently over my toes and feet. Of course I have to keep moving my position as my feet sink into the sand, and I find myself ending my practice quite a way from where I started. Once while doing one of the side-to-side movements, I noticed some interested ladies following along behind me. Almost always I notice a school of porpoises frolicking out in the ocean while I was doing Pulling In The Energy. Since that time I not only think of pulling in the energy from the most distant star but also from the depths of the ocean.
