T’ai Chi Chih Teachers! Come experience Belize with Beverly Miles and Lisa Stroyan on this collaborative T’ai Chi Chih excursion. The week of February 24-28, a small group of teachers from abroad and students from Corozal will gather for four full days of activities, plus whatever time you take to visit Belize on your own.

Belize is an English-speaking country; some Spanish is spoken, though not as commonly as Creole. Directly north of Belize City, near the Mexican border, Corozal is not known for its tourist activity.  It is a sleepy little country bush of a town. Its rhythm is slow, even. Its air is circular.  Its seasons are synchronized, its inhabitants humble and rooted and yet, its vibe is charged just enough agitation to sense the polarity. 

Plan on 5-7 nights with travel, plus any extra days on your own. Arrive by February 24th, 2025. The group event portion will be Monday February 24 (evening) through Friday February 28. Our time together will include immersion in Belize and Corozal culture and food, a visit to a Mayan Temple, a practice by the bay, deepening into TCC, and lots of wonderful connections. Wednesday we will have a wonderful Belizean BBQ. On Thursday, we will, with the Belize community, inaugurate Beverly’s new platform for mindful movement, The Tan T’ien. Friday, a day of activities will conclude our retreat. Saturday, March 1 will be departures or small groups gathering for activities.

Travel & Lodging

All international flights into Belize land at the Philip Goldson Airport (code: BZE). There are direct connections from a dozen major cities in the US and Canada on many major airlines, including Southwest. 

Corozal is a 2-hour drive from Philip Goldson Airport (code: BZE). The best option is a private “shuttle” shared by a few attendees. These shuttle services pick up individuals or groups in private vehicles and transport them directly to your hotel. 

We have a block of rooms held at two hotels, right next door to each other and both are bordered by the Corozal bay: the Sunshine View (has a pool and slightly cheaper) and Tony’s Inn, Hotels and Restaurants (a bit fancier/upscale), both with good food, local flavors and also international food.

Cost

We estimate that minimum budget allowance will be in the range of $1400 including airfare, based on double occupancy for 5 nights and sharing transportation from the airport with others. Contact us for detailed cost breakdown.  $100 registration fee covers shared costs; the rest will be up to you to purchase directly.
